สยาม-ญี่ปุ่นเริ่มติดต่อกันใหม่( คริสต์ศตวรรษที่ 19)

ได้มีการรื้อฟื้นความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างสยามกับญี่ปุ่นในคริสต์ศตวรรษที่ 19  โดยได้มีการสถาปนาข้อตกลงที่เรียกว่า คำประกาศทางไมตรีและการค้าระหว่างญี่ปุ่นและสยามในปี ค.ศ. 1887 (Declaration of Amity and Commerce between Japan and Siam)  ซึ่งเป็นช่วงรัชสมัยของยุคสร้างความทันสมัยให้แก่ประเทศของพระปิยมหาราชของสยาม และจักรพรรดิเมจิของญี่ปุ่น

ผู้เชี่ยวชาญญี่ปุ่นจำนวนไม่น้อยได้ถูกส่งมาสยามเพื่อช่วยสร้างความทันสมัยให้แก่ประเทศ ในด้านกฎหมาย ด้านการศึกษา  และด้านการเลี้ยงไหม

Resumption of contacts (19th century)

Relations resumed in the 19th century, with the establishment of the Declaration of Amity and Commerce between Japan and Siam in 1887, during the reigns of two icons of modernization, king Chulalongkorn in Siam and Emperor Meiji in Japan.

Numerous Japanese experts were dispatched to Thailand to help modernize the country, in areas such as law, education and sericulture.[15]
